The FINANCIAL — In 2015/16 MY, the general harvest of oilseed crops in Ukraine is estimated at 17.3 mln tonnes. But taking into account the export volumes, and the available processing capacities at 19.5 mln tonnes of oilseeds, in the season-2015/16 the shortage of raw materials will total nearly 6.5 mln tonnes, while the actual volume of oilseed processing – nearly 13 mln tonnes, declared the oilseed market analyst at APK-Inform Agency, Julia Ivanitskaya during her speech on May 13 at the round table “Logistics infrastructure of oilseed cargoes, and fat-and-oil products. Quality issues” in Mykolaiv.
Ukraine has sufficiently high level of raw materials provision for oil-producing enterprises. Growing of oilseeds in the country is one of the most highly profitable businesses compared with other agricultural crops, which makes agrarians to increase the crop production volumes. The potential of the available facilities allow to Ukraine to process the whole crop volumes on the domestic market. But rapidly developing processing capacities, as well as the fact that Ukraine supplies significant share of soybeans and rapeseed on foreign markets, the domestic market faces the shortage of oilseeds, informed the expert.
According to J.Ivanitskaya, the average work level of sunflower processing plants totals 80%, and also depends on the certain harvest volumes. The soybean index is much lower, and during several recent years the work level of soybean processing enterprises in the country does not reach 50%.
