The FINANCIAL — Ukrainian lawyers tasked with bringing the country’s legislation in line with European standards are meeting with experts from Croatia who will share their country’s recent practical experience on successful harmonisation of national legislation with the EU acquis.
This experience sharing activity, which started today, is organised by the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument of the European Commission (TAIEX) in cooperation with the Legislation Institute of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s Parliament.
During the three day mission, the experts representing the legislative office of the Government of Croatia, as well as the country’s Foreign Ministry, will present the country’s law making process, discuss the role of their respective institutions in ensuring the conformity of national legislation with the country’s Constitution and EU standards. They will also present the methods and instruments used in this process, share examples of improving Croatian legislation while bringing it in line with EU acquis, according to EU Neighbourhood Info.
TAIEX is a demand-driven tool that supports partner countries with the approximation of national laws, regulations and quality standards to those of EU Member States in the framework of Cooperation or Association agreements signed with the EU. In the Eastern Neighbourhood, TAIEX works with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
